PUPPY RICKI LEE Border Collie Young Female in Richmond, Virginia

My story
Ricki Lee came in to the rescue world with a fractured leg as a stray puppy who was needing immediate care and love.  As she has grown over the past 7 weeks, we have determined that this beauty might be a tri-color Border Collie with the softest coat that gleams in the sunlight. She fits all the traits and criteria of the breed with her intelligence, focus, energy and her focus on all things going on around her. Ricki Lee is currently a 34 pound girl that is about 8-9 months old and very playful, but not over the top energetic. We feel that Ricki Lee will be a 40 pound girl as a full grown adult and what a beauty she already is.  What we love about this girl is her gentleness and ability to acclimate to whatever environment or situation that she finds herself in.  She likes a good romp in the yard and also enjoys lying around mouthing on toys. Given a pile of toys, she enjoys testing them out and finding the squeakers. She will chase toys in the yard and could easily learn to fetch. She’s at that gangly teenager stage and appears to have zero agility prospects. She is very loving and likes to lay with you to watch tv or stand up and give a hug. She's great in the crate at night. She's working on leash training and house training with just a tad more time and she will perfect. She's smart and wants to please and your approval is paramount and needed.  All dogs need approval and love and she is a girl that deserves just that. She works hard for that approval.  She loves for you to move her collar over and give her neck a scratch or give her belly rubs. She plays really well with other dogs and loves to mouth wrestle. She's pretty jumpy and mouthy yet at her young age she needs to realize people don't play mouth wrestling. We just took her in to our rescue and are able to help you teach her what NOT to do with the gently yet playful mouthing. She'll need the usual training a young dog needs. Due to her mouthiness, we recommend no really young children. She's pretty good with a confident cat but tries to insist that they should play because her youth doesn’t know when a cat says “Not interested”.  She means no harm but she’s a bit too much for a timid cat. She likes people and is pretty sure everyone loves her.  We love this kind of confident and most Border Collies have that confidence until you tell them otherwise.  We hate to burst her bubble that not EVERYONE loves her.   She has a really deep voice and likes to tell you all about it. She’s a loving and silly girl. What can we say….she will be a lot of fun and challenges and definite rewards as you polish this jewel into a true beauty of great worth.  We would  request a fenced yard…. and a knowledge of training a dog with love and confident handling.
